MANE-4110
Advanced Fluid Mechanics
Comprehensive treatment of fluid mechanics for both incompressible and compressible as well as viscous and inviscid flows, with emphasis on fundamental concepts and analytical methods. Topics include review of kinematics of fluid flow, derivation of the Navier-Stokes equations including their boundary conditions, exact solutions of Navier-Stokes equations, similarity solutions including laminar boundary layers, transition to turbulence, and one- and two-dimensional ideal compressible flow. Prerequisite: MANE-4010 or equivalent. Offered on sufficient demand.
