Advanced Metamorphic Petrology

In-depth analysis of metamorphic phase equilibria in pelites, amphibolites, carbonates, and ultramafic rocks. Schreinemakers’ analysis, petrogenetic grids, P-T-X relations, reaction space, geothermometry, geobarometry, and analysis of zoned prophyroblasts. Heat flow, metamorphic, and tectonic evolution. Laboratory involves analysis of textural relations in thin section and computer exercises. Fall term odd-numbered years.
