Formula Car 2013 Unveiled!
Undergraduate students members of Rensselaer Motorsport, Rensselaer’s student-run race team, unveiled their 2013 competition car April 8 at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center. The group manufactures a new formula-style car from scratch every year. According to the group, “Powered only by a motorcycle engine, the cars average 0-60mph speeds faster than that of a Ferrari Enzo.”
Rensselaer Motorsport is to take part in a Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) competition at Michigan International Speedway in early May. They will be one of more than 140 teams from across the globe to gather for the event. Participating teams are graded not only performance, but on design, creativeness, and theoretical cost of mass production as well.
