A Word From Human Resources

Strategic Initiatives

Today, as we continue to struggle with the tough economy, leaders of organizations of all sizes are facing great challenges as they try to balance their desire to offer fair and competitive compensation and benefits programs to their employees. Even with this tough economy, Rensselaer continues to provide competitive pay and benefits to our faculty and staff. The Division of Human Resources is working to ensure that our compensation and benefits plans are competitive in order to retain and to attract the most productive faculty and staff.

We attribute our success to consistently reviewing market trends and understanding the needs of our employees. In addition, the strong partnerships that we have developed with our benefits providers allow us to work closely with them to keep costs to a minimum while still providing a comprehensive benefits package to Rensselaer faculty, staff, and more than 1,000 retirees.

The overall vision of the Division of Human Resources is to ensure that Rensselaer faculty and staff members are fully engaged and contributing their talents and energies to the advancement of Rensselaer.

We feel that investment in our human resource programs allows us to recruit and retain world-class talent, as well as ensuring that Rensselaer remains as a top-tier, world-class technological research university.

The overall vision of the Division of Human Resources is to ensure that Rensselaer faculty and staff members are fully engaged and contributing their talents and energies to the advancement of Rensselaer. We are dedicated to providing an environment that promotes academic and personal growth. We want to lead the way in attracting, retaining, and developing the talents of our faculty and staff by providing the platforms, programs, sound management practices, and leadership necessary to achieve excellence.

Additionally, the Division of Human Resources is committed to developing and implementing innovative human resource strategies and workforce operational policies that will ensure the development of a high-performing technological and research-focused workforce and leaders to meet the challenges of educating tomorrow’s leaders.

Moving forward, we will focus on the most effective and efficient cost-savings measures for the Rensselaer health, welfare, and
benefits program offerings, including legislative health care reform, fiduciary and pension risks, and staffing strategies.

When you join Rensselaer as an employee, your career takes on the unique challenge of working at a dynamic, research-driven educational enterprise—a top-tier world-class technological university with global reach and global impact. We thank you all for the contributions that you have made, and for the many that are yet to come.
