Rensselaer Union Student Events Planned for Feb. 2
With Big Red Freakout and Black Family Technology Awareness Day taking place on Feb. 2, there will be no shortage of activities for members of the campus community to enjoy.
Also, on Feb. 2, two Rensselaer Union student organizations will host events that are free and open to campus and local community.
Individuals who are interested in learning about the more than 200 Rensselaer Union clubs and organizations are invited to attend the “Pack the Union” event. The event will be held in the Rensselaer Union McNeil Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Later that evening, in honor of Black History Month, members of the Black Student Alliance will host their opening ceremony. The event will feature a performance by world-renown flutist and lecturer Galen Abdur-Razzaq. The program will be held in the Rensselaer Union McNeil room from 5 to 7 p.m.
Abdur-Razzaq is also known as a riveting speaker on the topic of jazz, and has performed at colleges and universities for more than 25 years. A former educator, he holds a master’s degree in education and performing arts from Rutgers University; and he also studied music at Berklee School of Music in Boston. Abdur-Razzaq will perform piece and also deliver a talk on Black History.
