Rensselaer staff volunteers are needed to help ensure a wonderful experience for our alumni and guests. There is an especially pressing need for help at Registration on Friday and Saturday.

Please consider helping out—the experience will be fun for you, and our alumni very much enjoy and appreciate your assistance! Training will be provided; all you need is a smile and a willingness to help.

If you would like to get involved, contact Kim Cardillo at cardik@rpi.edu or 276-2566.

Save the Date: Reunion & Homecoming Oct. 4-6

The Office of Alumni Relations will host Reunion & Homecoming the weekend of Oct. 4-6. More than 3,000 alumni and guests are expected to return to campus to celebrate milestone Class Reunions, athletic team gatherings, Greek get-togethers, and other former student group reunions.

“This year, we are pleased to include the Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony as part of Reunion & Homecoming,” says Jeff Schanz, assistant vice president for alumni relations. “The ceremony will follow Dr. Jackson’s State of the Institute Address, held Friday at 2 p.m. The campus community is welcome to join us to hear about the progress of the past year, and to celebrate the accomplishments of our distinguished alumni. ”

“Whether you encourage alumni you interact with to attend, help out alumni visitors over the weekend, or join us at an event, make this YOUR year to take part in this important campus tradition. Your participation can make all the difference!”
—Jeff Schanz

The four new members selected for induction this year are: B. Jayant Baliga ’74 Ph.D., power electronics innovator; Lewis B. Combs ’16, co-founder of the Seabees; Thomas W. Phelan Jr., dean, historian, and counselor; and Alfred Tredway White, Class of 1865, pioneer in housing reform.

In addition to the President’s State of the Institute and the Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the campus community is invited to join alumni for the FanFest carnival midway at the East Campus Athletic Village terrace. In addition to food, games, and music, FanFest will feature one of the Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame’s most iconic inventions—the Ferris wheel!

“If you interact with alumni on a regular basis, please encourage them to attend, said Schanz. “If you see our alumni visitors on campus during the weekend, please take some time to engage with them, and help to make sure they have the best possible experience.

“Whether you encourage alumni you interact with to attend, help out alumni visitors over the weekend, or joinus at an event, make this YOUR year to take part in this important campus tradition. Your participation can make all the difference!”
