Search for Provost
President Jackson has announced that a search is under way to fill the provost position. “As you know, Dr. Robert Palazzo recently relinquished his position as provost in order to return to his academic position as a tenured full professor in the School of Science,” she said. “As the provost position is an essential function of the Institute, I have initiated a national and international search for a replacement.”
The provost serves as the chief academic affairs officer. The provost, working in partnership with the president, is responsible for all academic portfolios and, in collaboration with the vice president for research, strengthens the research missions of the Institute. The provost develops, reviews, and approves academic programs and policies, as delegated by the president, as well as the appointment, promotion, development, and mentoring of a diverse, world-class research and instructional faculty.
The following individuals have agreed to serve as members of the core recruitment committee: Laurie Leshin, dean of the School of Science; Robert Linhardt, constellation chair and professor of chemistry and chemical biology; Gina O’Connor, professor in the Lally School of Management & Technology; and Shekhar Garde, professor and department chair, chemical and biological Engineering. Virginia Gregg, vice president for finance and CFO, and Evan Douglis, dean of the School of Architecture, will serve in the capacity of co-chairs for the committee.
“While this committee will have the principal responsibility of identifying outstanding candidates for this position, attracting the highest quality individuals will require the effort of the entire university community,” said the president.
Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources, will work with the committee to present the president with a set of recommended candidates. If you have suggestions or nominations, submit them to Powell email@example.com.
