Red & White Student Organization Honored by CASE

Rensselaer’s Red & White Student Organization is a group of students who serve as ambassadors of Rensselaer, representing the Institute to its alumni, the campus, and the community.  Members of this professional organization have the opportunity to network with alumni, develop leadership and communication skills, build career contacts, and participate in university, presidential, and alumni events. Members also help to promote the traditions of Rensselaer, guide seniors through the transition from students to alumni, and instill a sense of pride in the Institute.

On March 3-4, members of the Red & White Student Organization traveled to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to attend the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education Conference for Affiliate Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP).  The Office of Alumni Relations has reported that the group won several awards for programs that have significant impact on Rensselaer, Institute Advancement, and the Rensselaer Alumni Association.

The Red & White group was recognized for the

  • For “Best Tried and True Program,” the Traditions Tour was selected. The Traditions Tour program takes place for students during Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond Week and features a tour of some of the historic landmark sites and areas on campus with alumni, new students, and upperclass students.
  • For “Outstanding External Program,” the Alum101 effort was honored. The program matches upperclassmen with young alumni as they learn how to become good alumni/ae of Rensselaer.
  • For “Outstanding Organization,” the Red & White Student Organization was selected, for their enormous success as an effective student alumni association for Rensselaer.

The Office of Alumni Relations was also pleased to report that Rensselaer and the Red & White Student Organization will host the CASE ASAP District II Conference for 2013. CASE ASAP District II has 64 schools represented and expects to bring 150 to 200 students to campus next year. The conference will cover topics such as student-alumni organizations, spirit organizations, ambassador organizations, and programs on student philanthropy. Red & White Student Organization is a program that is part of the Office of Alumni Relations and sponsored by the Rensselaer Alumni Association.
