Tech Park Hosts FIRST Robotics Competition

On Feb. 19, more than 10 teams representing the Albany, Colonie, Shaker, Shenendehowa, Ballston Spa, Amsterdam, Saratoga, Hudson, Oneonta, and Rutland, Vt., school districts took part in a public showcase for the FIRST Robotics competition held at the Rensselaer Technology Park. Teams participated in a series of timed matches.The FIRST Robotics competition combines the excitement of a sport with science and technology to create a unique “Sport for the Mind.” This time, the sport was basketball. To help prepare for the competition, students had an opportunity to attend a full-day clinic on Feb.18. The program allowed teams to finish building, tweaking, and testing their robots.
