EMPAC Announces Spring 2013 Schedule of Events
The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer has announced the spring 2013 schedule of events. It is a calendar filled with performances, talks, screenings, exhibitions, concerts, and happenings that play with and challenge the boundaries of the arts, sciences, and technology. EMPAC invites the audience to experience adventures that cross the lines of what we think we know; prepare to be engaged and sometimes provoked.
“EMPAC is where the arts, sciences, and technology interact with and influence each other by using the same facilities, technologies, and by breathing the same air,” says EMPAC’s press release.
EMPAC is dedicated to building bridges between our human senses, to modes of perception and experience, to creating meaning in a physical environment, and to the intangible world of digital technology.
Four discrete venues are designed with unique technical infrastructure to enable the audience to see, hear, and move in space in endlessly different ways. EMPAC hosts artists and researchers to create new work and present events which “ask you to join the quest for new perspectives.”

Additional information on specific events will be forthcoming as they draw closer.
All performance tickets (unless specified otherwise) are $18 general admission; $13 non-Rensselaer students, seniors, and Rensselaer faculty and staff; and $6 Rensselaer students. Screenings are $6; talks and installations are free. |
