Commemorating Sept. 11: ROTC Branches Host
Daylong Flag Vigil
Across the nation, a daylong series of events and remembrance ceremonies was held to commemorate Sept. 11. At Rensselaer, the Institute marked the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, with a ceremonial lowering of the flag at the beginning of the day, while members from the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) representing the Army, Navy, and Air Force ROTC stood vigil throughout the day at the Armory flag. The day’s events also included a special carillon bell ringing of “Taps” during the times that the World Trade Center buildings fell, and a moment of silence that was observed later in the day during the annual hockey line event.
