Michael Gordon: Rushes

The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) will present New York City-based Michael Gordon, composer and founder of the iconic new music organization Bang on a Can, on Saturday, September 15. With one of the most unorthodox ensembles imaginable, Gordon culminates a recording residency with the world premiere of a new work for seven bassoons. Best known for music driving rhythmic intensity and power, Gordon explores interweaving texture and timbre of a surplus of double reeds.
The Rushes ensemble includes bassoonists Rachael Elliott, Michael Harley, Lynn Hileman, Dana Jessen, Jeffrey Lyman, Saxton Rose, and Maya Stone.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. in the EMPAC Concert
Hall. Tickets are $18 general admission; $13 non-Rensselaer
students, seniors, and Rensselaer faculty and staff; $6
