Save the Date: Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Invites Community To Learn About “Superbug” Research Feb. 7
The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies invites
the community to attend a discussion with faculty titled “Battling Superbugs” at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the center’s auditorium.
A reception with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will follow.
The discussion is part of a series that introduces the public and
Rensselaer community to the life-saving and high-tech research ongoing at the center.
The forum will include a discussion with top Rensselaer researchers Ravi Kane, the P.K. Lashmet Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering; Blanca Barquera, associate professor of biology; and Cynthia Collins, assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering.
Each of these researchers will discuss their work in the lab to
understand complex and potentially lethal bacteria and the hunt for new ways to stop their spread. Together, their work extends from understanding bacterial growth in space to the development of new antibiotics and antibacterial surfaces inspired by nature. A panel discussion and Q&A with the audience will follow.
If you plan to attend, RSVP at www.rpi.edu/news/events/biotech/.
