Big Red Freakout Turns 35
on Feb. 4
The popular men’s ice hockey tradition known as the Big Red Freakout turns 35 this year, and Rensselaer hockey fans are invited to the Big Red Freakout Ice House to celebrate.
The Ice House has itself become an annual tradition, bringing together alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Rensselaer hockey at the Heffner Alumni House for a buffet dinner, face painting and “tattoos” courtesy of the Red & White Student Organization, and a Pep Band performance.
This year’s Big Red Freakout hockey game—where the Engineers will take on Colgate—is Saturday, Feb. 4. The Ice House event begins at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $27 for adult buffet and game ticket, $14 for child (5-12) buffet and ticket, $21 for adult buffet only, and $11 for child (5-12) buffet only.
A free shuttle will take fans from the Heffner Alumni House to the Houston Field House for the game. Following the game, participants can take the shuttle back to the Heffner Alumni House to meet the men's hockey team members and coaches. A cash bar and complimentary hot drinks, desserts, and snacks also will be available.
The Office of Alumni Relations has a limited number of tickets available for the Big Red Freakout hockey game. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis to Ice House attendees only.
To join the fun, register online at alumni.rpi.edu/freakout. If you have questions, contact Peter Pedone at firstname.lastname@example.org or 276-6061. Advance reservations are required and no refunds will be given after Friday, Jan. 27.
