The Rensselaer Solar Racing Team student club rolled out its new car, Photon, March 30 on the ’86 Field. The team will take Photon to race against other all-electric student-built vehicles in the 2011 Shell Eco-marathon.

Twenty-four students were recently inducted into the Rensselaer Phalanx Honor Society for 2011. New members were selected — or tapped — by the student members of Phalanx.

The sixth annual Relay For Life event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will be held on ’86 Field April 29-30 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Several community and service-minded students spent their spring break completing various construction duties at a Habitat for Humanity project in North Carolina.

Michael Century will perform an unlikely program with the premiere of a modern minimalist piece and one of Beethoven’s final sonatas for piano, at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at EMPAC.

To provide new and current students and other members of the campus community with a sampling of Sodexo Hospitality Services’ offerings, Sodexo hosted its annual food festival event in March.

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) has welcomed the Swedish Energy Agency and iGuzzini as the newest members of the LRC Partners Program.

The Division of Human Resources has announced the holiday schedule for the 2012 academic calendar year. The Institute will be closed during the Holiday Winter Break from Dec. 24, 2011, through Jan. 2, 2012.

Three Rensselaer men’s hockey players recently have signed professional contracts: Chase Polacek and Jeff Foss have signed professional contracts with the AHL teams, while Allen York has signed with the NHL.

Rensselaer students, faculty, and staff came together in the East Campus Athletic Village Arena March 26 to cheer on the men’s hockey team in the NCAA Regional Championship game.
