|Search for Vice President for Student Life Begins
Eddie Ade Knowles, vice president for student life and adjunct faculty member in the Department of the Arts, will step down from his vice presidency this year. Effective June 30, 2011, he will transition to a position as professor of practice in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. In order to ensure a seamless transition, Rensselaer has initiated a national search for this position.
President Jackson has announced that the following individuals have agreed to serve as members of the core recruitment committee: John Kolb, vice president for information services and technology and CIO, chair; Susan Gilbert, professor and department head, Biology; Linda Schadler, professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Deborah Kaminski, professor, Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering; Mark Mistur, associate dean, School of Architecture; Audrey Bennett, associate professor, Department of Language, Literature, and Communication; Roger Johnson, director of public safety; and Michael Zwack, student leader.
“While this committee will have the principal responsibility of identifying outstanding candidates for this position, attracting the highest quality individual will require the effort of the entire university community, and I enlist your assistance in this most important process,” said President Jackson.
She has asked Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources, to work with Vice President Kolb and the recruitment committee in an expedited fashion, and to a set of recommended candidates by March 1.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to submit suggestions or nominations for this position to Vice President John Kolb, chair of the core recruitment committee.
