Dara Greenwald, doctoral candidate in the Department of the Arts, is co-editor with Josh MacPhee of the exhibition catalogue Signs of Change: Social Movement Cultures, 1960s to Now, published by Exit Art and AK Press, winter 2010. Mary Anne Staniszewski, associate professor of arts, is executive editor. The catalogue was published in conjunction with Signs of Change: Social Movement Cultures 1960s to Now, an exhibition produced by the New York City cultural center, Exit Art. Signs of Change was the inaugural project of Exit Art’s Curatorial Incubator Program, of which Staniszewski is the director. Greenwald and MacPhee were fellows of the program and curators of the exhibition. The catalogue is a visual archive of more than 350 posters, prints, photographs, films, videos, music, and ephemera from more than 25 nations.

Aaron Smith, a senior research specialist and graduate student, was recently recognized by LD+A, the magazine of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), as one of 25 rising stars in the lighting profession. Smith works at the Lighting Research Center and just completed a master of science in the lighting program, where his thesis focused on a practical daylighting strategy for improving the efficient use of electric lighting in commercial applications. “Aaron has demonstrated a passion for improving quality of life through lighting,” said LRC Director Mark Rea. “His dedication and leadership have led to the development of new tools and technologies that will help maximize the use of daylighting for better energy efficiency and to improve human health and well-being.”
