|Rusty Pipes To Host the International A Cappella Championship Quarterfinal
Calling all music lovers! Members of the Rusty Pipes, one of Rensselaer’s student a cappella singing groups, will host and perform during the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Quarterfinal regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 5. The event, beginning at 8 p.m., will be held in the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) Concert Hall. The event is the only international tournament that showcases the art of student a cappella singing, and is dedicated to providing top-notch a cappella groups with feedback from qualified judges.
During the event, several collegiate a cappella groups will take the stage to belt out tunes from a variety of musical genres. In addition to the Rusty Pipes, participants include Rensselaer’s Partial Credit, Absolut A Cappella of SUNY New Paltz, Casual Harmony of Rutgers University, the Earth Tones and Serendipity of SUNY Albany, Eight Beat Measure of Rochester Institute of Technology, Matthew’s Minstrels of Vassar College, and The Pointercounts of SUNY Potsdam. Rensselaer’s Rensselyrics will be guest performers at the event.
The program is a Division of Student Life signature event that is open to the campus and surrounding community. Tickets are required; tickets are $7 for Rensselaer students and individuals under 17 years of age; $10 for non-Rensselaer students; and $13 for Rensselaer faculty and staff and the general public.
