Procurement Services Announces New Agreements

Procurement Services has announced three new agreements that have been awarded recently under the Institute’s new Procure-to-Pay Enhancement Project, which is charged with streamlining the campuswide buying and supplier payment process and leveraging the Institute’s buying power to reduce the cost of products and services required by Rensselaer departments. These competitively bid contracts were awarded in collaboration with the Educational and Institutional Cooperative Service, a national purchasing cooperative that serves over 2,300 member colleges and universities across the country.

OfficeMax, a leading distributor of office-related products, has been awarded a five-year Office Products Master Agreement, effective Nov. 1, 2011. OfficeMax will replace Staples as the preferred supplier of office supplies for the Institute. The OfficeMax products catalog has been enabled in the Rensselaer Marketplace (OSCAR) as a punch-out supplier, with discounted pricing that will reduce office supply costs 8 to 10 percent.

Initially, OfficeMax will be sending invoices to the individuals placing the orders. In the near future, OfficeMax will submit electronic invoices and campus members will not be required to process an invoice for payment. The system will automatically match the invoice to the purchase order and payment will be made.

Grainger, a leading distributor of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) related products, has been awarded a three-year MRO Products Master Agreement effective Nov. 21, 2011. The Grainger MRO products catalog will be enabled in the Rensselaer Marketplace (OSCAR) as a punch-out supplier.

Lab Safety Supply items are also included in the Grainger punch-out catalog. Lab Safety Supply provides safety, industrial, healthcare, and laboratory supplies.

FedEx Corp., a leader in the overnight package and freight business, has been awarded a Master Agreement for domestic and international express package delivery service, effective immediately.

As a Master Agreement contract supplier, FedEx will provide Rensselaer faculty and staff with an array of domestic and international package delivery services, ground delivery, and freight services across the globe. The FedEx Corporation Master Agreement includes rates for domestic and international services.
