United Way works to advance the common good by focusing on basic needs, family support, and financial stability, according to the organization. The campaign runs through Nov. 18. Last year, the Institute received the Partner in Giving award for its efforts, and raised well over $120,000 for the United Way.

This year, funds will be raised through a variety of activities and events, including campaign pledging by members of the campus community, a bottle drive, community fair, and a barbecue dinner. The bottle drive will be on-going throughout the campaign. Members of the campus community can drop off their used bottles and cans at designated locations around campus. In addition, a community fair will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, in the Rensselaer Union lobby area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, members will host an Election Day barbecue in the Rensselaer Union north lobby area from 4 to 6 p.m. Meat, vegetarian, and vegan selections will be available. All dinners are pre-packaged and cost $10.

Individuals are also encouraged to fill a pledge form out and turn it in to the Division of Human Resources during the annual Benefits Fair/Faculty & Staff Appreciation scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4 in the Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (Armory). During the event, individuals will be able to spin the wheel for a chance win prizes.
