Join Alumni at Reunion & Homecoming Weekend
The weekend of Oct. 21-23 is Reunion & Homecoming, Rensselaer’s largest alumni tradition. A crowd of more than 3,000 alumni and guests is expected to take part in the festivities. Members of the campus community are welcome to take part in a majority of the programs and events.
Some of the highlights include:
- President Jackson’s State of the Institute Address on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC). Join President Jackson as she presents the progress and accomplishments of the last year.
- The IBM Watson Challenge on Saturday at 9 a.m. in EMPAC. David Ferrucci, Ph.D. ’94, lead scientist on the Watson project, will present a discussion and Jeopardy! game, pitting Watson against students and alumni.
- FanFest on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the East Campus Athletic Village. This carnival midway will include food, performances by Rensselaer’s student a cappella groups, games, and more.
- Portland Taiko Asian American Drum Performance, sponsored by Liberty Mutual, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in EMPAC. Taiko combines rhythm, movement, energy, and culture into a dynamic art form. Come and witness the artistry of this amazing drum and dance performance. Tickets are $5 each, and are available through the EMPAC box office at empacboxoffice@rpi.edu or 276-3921.
“Please be on the lookout for our alumni guests over the weekend, and do whatever you can to help us make their Reunion & Homecoming experience a good one,” says Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations Jeff Schanz.
Anyone who needs assistance may find help at Registration at the Heffner Alumni House, which is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Or they can call 276-2504.
