EMPAC Presents
Francis and the Lights: White Room
October 28 & 29
Reclusive singer, songwriter, and pianist Francis Farewell Starlite will be in residence at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) to create a new pop music spectacle The White Room. Last year, Starlite toured the U.S. with rap superstar Drake (at his personal invitation), as well as opened for MGMT, Ke$ha, La Roux, and Mark Ronson.
Francis and the Lights is the symbolic band name used by the eccentric performer Francis Farewell Starlite. The term “and the Lights” does not refer to his backing band; the “Lights” are intended to represent stage lights and screen pixels. Francis’ single visions and explosive live performances have drawn comparisons to David Byrne and James Brown. 8:30 p.m. Studio 1 Goodman. Tickets are $18/$13/$6.
