Digital Camera Pioneer Steven Sasson Receives 2011 Davies Medal

Renowned electrical engineer and digital camera inventor Steven Sasson ’72 received the prestigious Davies Medal for Engineering Achievement from the School of Engineering.

Elementary, middle, high school, and college students, along with working professionals and K-12 teachers, immersed themselves in a plethora of credit courses, academic short courses, sports camps, and enrichment programs.

Recent Appointments and Promotions

A number of people recently have joined Rensselaer or been named to new positions. Among these are Colleen O’Byrne, Annette Chism, Maria Mike-Mayer, and J. Louis Trzepacz.

Last month, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee left extensive damage in the Capital Region. In the aftermath, a band of helpers from the Rensselaer campus have been engaged in ongoing volunteer efforts.

Human Resources recently hosted the 39th annual Employee Service Recognition and Retirement Dinner at the Troy Hilton Garden Inn.

The Rensselaer fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) hosted its annual Community Enrichment Dinner on Sept. 14. Faculty, staff, Greek Life administrators, and neighbors were invited to participate in the occasion.

Ellie Markovitch, a Brazilian-American artist, has invited the community to join in a harvest celebration followed by a community potluck dinner.
