Partha Dutta, professor of electrical, computer, and systems engineering, has been named deputy director of the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center (ERC). According to David Rosowsky, dean of engineering, and Robert Karlicek Jr., director of the Smart Lighting ERC, Dutta has been working to support the growth of the ERC since it was formed in 2008. As a faculty member in ECSE, Dutta has distinguished himself as a superb teacher and research scientist with a sustained high level of funding. His broad scope of research interests, ranging from materials and devices to system-level integration activities, is critically important to the mission of the ERC. In this new role, Dutta will expand his current contributions, helping shape all aspects of the ERC Smart Lighting vision and execute the development of future advanced lighting systems.
