International Scholars Program Offers New Energy Systems Concentration
Starting this summer, Rensselaer’s International Scholars Program (ISP), a 10-week global learning experience in Rome and Shanghai, will offer a new energy systems concentration for the M.S. in engineering science degree. This degree program was designed to prepare graduates to enter the rapidly growing environmental job market by developing technical leaders who can navigate the vast array of energy options and create sustainable solutions for present and future generations. With this program, students will gain insight into energy systems and various cutting-edge alternatives; explore innovative energy technologies at sites in the United States, Europe, and Asia; and earn an M.S. in engineering science in less than a year.

The Council of Economic Advisers predicts “green jobs” will grow 52 percent by 2016. The energy systems curriculum focuses on systems engineering as well as conducting technical, economic, and environmental assessments that consider the interactions between energy and ecosystems. The experience will include global energy policy development and implementation and the social, political, economic, and environmental impact of technical decision making. This degree offers a unique set of opportunities for graduates, including renewable energy systems analysis, energy technology program specialization, and wind project management.

The other ISP track is in global management and allows students to earn credits toward an M.S. in management or MBA degree. Learn more about the ISP and both the energy systems and global enterprise management concentrations at a virtual information session by registering at http://ewp.rpi.edu/admissions/openhouse/#vis. Or, contact a program manager at (860) 548-5600 or e-mail isp@ewp.rpi.edu. Acceptance into the ISP is highly competitive, so candidates are encouraged to apply now at www.ewp.rpi.edu/isp.
