Peter Snyder Bench Dedication

To honor the memory of Peter Snyder, former director of Residence Life and a longtime member of the Rensselaer community who passed away in June, several campus members collaborated to unveil a special gift — a wrought-iron black bench with a plaque that resides in front of the Residence Life office.

The memorial plaque has words etched in gold that read: “In Memory of Peter G. Snyder. Director of Residence Life from 1974-2006. In appreciation of the dedication, friendship, mentoring, and laughter he provided to the Rensselaer Community. Continued cheerfulness is a sign of wisdom.”

More than 60 people attended the ceremony, including members of Snyder’s family, alumni, former staff members who worked with Snyder, and members of the campus community. The event was held during last month’s Reunion & Homecoming Weekend. The gift was made possible with support from Scott Litwin, supervisor for landscape operations, the Office of Alumni Relations, and Residence Life.
