| Folsom Library Presents: Erie Canal Exhibition |
 |
An exhibition titled “Re-Inspired, An Artistic Navigation of the Erie Canal,” composed of 24 panels of vivid images and illustrative text, tells the story of the Erie Canal and the pioneering contributions engineers made to America’s first major civil engineering project. Regional artists were commissioned to employ their unique vision and skill to create paintings that capture their interpretations of the mechanical structure of the canal. The exhibit will run Oct. 14 Nov. 30 in Folsom Library.
An opening reception will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14. Program will include remarks by representatives of the Rensselaer faculty, the NYS Thruway Authority and Canal Authority, and a costumed interpreter talking about what it was like to survey New York state in the early 1800s.
