Rensselaer Vice President for Research Francine Berman spoke at the recent Science Coalition roundtable discussion with the media in Washington, D.C., at the National Press Club. The event featured research leaders from 10 of the nation’s leading academic institutions. Berman and the others discussed the role of research universities in driving innovation and long-term economic growth. Rensselaer is a member of the Science Coalition, a nonprofit group working to expand and strengthen the federal government’s investment in university-based scientific, medical, engineering and agricultural research. Deborah Altenburg, Rensselaer’s director of federal relations, currently serves as president of the Science Coalition.
