Director of Environmental Health and Safety Named
Jeffrey Lyden has been appointed director of environmental health and safety for Rensselaer. Lyden has over 15 years of comprehensive experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) field. His experience includes regulatory compliance; management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste; oversight of waste minimization programs; air and water permitting and monitoring; developing and implementing EH&S performance metrics; and developing and conducting EH&S training courses.

Most recently, he was employed with Avery Dennison, Fasson Roll North America as the regional environmental health and safety manager, where his responsibilities included oversight and management of compliance with federal, state, and corporate EH&S regulations across several locations; oversight of hazardous and non-hazardous waste minimization program; EH&S government reporting; EH&S training; and workers’ compensation and claims management. Prior to Avery Dennison, Lyden was employed by J.V. Teleflex Inc. as an operations manager and at Kennametal Inc., where he oversaw training and safety programs.

Lyden received his undergraduate degree from Lake Erie College, Painesville, Ohio, in environmental science management and completed the Six Sigma Black belt training while at Avery Dennison. He was the 2006 recipient of the Corporate Leadership Excellence Award in Environmental Health and Safety.
