Search for Dean of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences Launched
A national search for the position of dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is under way. The dean is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, and will provide the academic and administrative leadership required to strengthen the school’s academic and research programs, as well as its international visibility.

The following individuals have agreed to serve as members of the Core Recruitment Committee: Eddie Ade Knowles, vice president for student life (co-chair); Evan Douglis, dean of the School of Architecture (co-chair); Stanley Dunn, vice provost and dean of graduate education; Arturo Estrella, professor and head of economics; Kathleen Ruiz, associate professor of arts; Atsushi Akera, associate professor of science and technology studies; Audrey Bennet, associate professor of language, literature, and communication; and Brett Fajen, associate professor of cognitive science.

“While this committee will have the principal responsibility of identification of outstanding candidates for this position, attracting the highest quality individual will require the effort of the entire university community,” said President Jackson in a memo to campus. “I enlist your assistance in this most important process. I have asked Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources, to work with the Core Recruitment Committee to present a slate of recommended candidates during the upcoming 2010 spring semester.”
