Women’s Cross Country Competes
at NCAAs
The Rensselaer women’s cross country team concluded its 2009 campaign at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21. The meet, which marked the first appearance by the Engineers at Nationals, saw freshman Marie Ferro finish 80th of 280 competitors as Rensselaer finished 28th of 32 teams.

Ferro posted a time of 23:26.1 at the meet to lead the Engineers squad. The championships, which featured 32 teams and 56 individuals outside of the team, featured two scoring systems in order to record team scores and placing. Ferro placed 53rd in team scoring for the meet.

Classmate Grace Tilton ran to a 155th place finish at this year’s meet, posting a time of 24:05.9. Within the team scoring ranks, she finished 109th. Junior Christine Koch was close behind with a 165th place showing. She had a time of 24:11.0 in the 6k event and was 117th in team scoring.

Senior Erin Kyle, who was making her second straight appearance in the NCAA Championships, finished 187th on the day, besting her finish spot of last year’s meet (193rd of 297). She posted a time of 24:23.3 and was 137th in the team scoring.
