Supercomputing: Celebrating the CCNI
ECAC Hockey has announced its year-end men’s hockey honors for the 2007-08 season and Rensselaer student-athlete Chase Polacek has been selected to the All-ECAC Hockey Rookie Team. The league’s 12 head coaches selected the honorees.
A forward from Edina, Minn., Polacek played in all 38 games for the Engineers. He finished second in scoring with 28 points on seven goals and a team-high 21 assists. One of his tallies came on the power play.

Polacek was also among the ECAC Hockey leaders in several categories for rookies. He is currently third in rookie scoring, having averaged 0.74 points per game, and eighth in overall assists with 22. Nationally he is ranked 22nd in points per game by a rookie.

Throughout the season Polacek was honored three times by the league, including Rookie of the Week. He was twice named to the league’s Weekly Honor Roll. He is Rensselaer’s fourth selection to the All-Rookie Team in the past six years, joining forward Kevin Croxton (2002-03), forward Oren Eizenman (2003-04), and goaltender Mathias Lange (2005-06).

Prior to attending Rensselaer, Polacek—and current teammate Bryan Brutlag — won a Minnesota State High School Championship with the Academy of Holy Angels in 2004-05. He was the team’s Most Valuable Player after scoring 26 goals and assisting on 38 more for 64 points in 28 games as a senior.

Rensselaer was 11-23-4 overall and 6-13-3 in conference play.
