Three Earn Year-End Honors in Women’s Hoops
The Liberty League has announced its year-end women’s basketball honors and three Rensselaer student-athletes have been recognized. Junior Elizabeth Barker was selected to the First Team while seniors Missy Jackman and Tory Lyons earned Honorable Mention.

A forward from Suffield, Conn., Barker is averaging a team-high 12.9 points, shooting 40.9 percent from the field, with 11.8 rebounds in 24 games. She has also recorded 26 assists, eight blocks, and 26 steals with a 26.3 minutes per game average. Barker led Rensselaer in scoring in a team-high 10 games this year. The Liberty League Forward of the Week five times and a Liberty League All-Academic selection, Barker is ranked 13th nationally in rebounds per game. She leads the conference in rebounding, including offensive (4.17 per game) and defensive (7.67 average), and is third in scoring.

A captain from Danvers, Mass., Jackman is averaging 11.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in a team-best 32.9 minutes over 24 games. She leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (35.1 percent) and is second in assists (74). She also has three blocks and 28 steals. Jackman has led the Red Hawks in scoring in seven games. She has scored at least 10 points in 14 games, including two with 20+ points. The two-time Liberty League Guard of the Week is fifth in the conference in both three-point field goals made (2.17 average) and assists.

Lyons, a captain out of Feeding Hills, Mass., boasts a 10.3 points-per-game average and is third on the squad in rebounding (6.2 per contest), assists (30), and average minutes (27.0 per game). The team’s leader in blocks (22), Lyons is also second in steals (34) and has led the team in scoring in six games. A two-time Liberty League Forward of the Week selection, she is ninth in the conference in defensive rebounds (4.57 per contest) and 10th in rebounding.
