Rensselaer’s Lighting Research Center (LRC) welcomes Con Edison as the newest member of the LRC Partners Program, which is designed to coordinate the efforts of public and private organizations to advance lighting research, education, and technology. Con Edison, a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison Inc., one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies, has served metropolitan New York, a dynamic and demanding marketplace, for more than 180 years. Con Edison will enhance customer offerings through new, sustainable lighting technologies and applications developed and demonstrated through its LRC Partnership. Con Edison has a long history with the LRC that includes funding specific lighting and energy projects, education seminars and demonstrations, according to LRC Director Mark Rea. “We are honored to have Con Edison make this formal commitment to the LRC, and it seems fitting that it comes at a time when the LRC is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a research and education center devoted to lighting,” said Rea.
