United Way Campaign Begins Oct. 31

The 2008 United Way Campaign officially kicks off at Rensselaer on Friday, Oct. 31, and runs through Friday, Nov. 14. For the 2007 campaign, Rensselaer ranked No. 4 among all contributing companies and organizations in the Capital Region, with 530 employees contributing $137,024 to the United Way of the Greater Capital Region. Rensselaer led the way among area colleges and universities, ranking No. 1 in employee giving, employee per capita giving, percentage employee participation, and average gift ($253). The goal again this year is to increase Rensselaer’s participation rate, currently at 33 percent, as well as overall contribution to this worthy charitable organization.

This year’s United Way committee coordinators are Laban Coblentz, chief of staff and associate vice president for policy and planning; Bonnie Carson and Joan Perras, School of Science; Jacqueline Farmer, Division of the Chief Information Officer; and Suzanne Luraas, Institute Advancement.

Other committee members are: Diane Bamrick, President’s Office; Kim Cardillo and Tanya Rautine, Office of Research; Nicole Durrick, Lally School of Management & Technology; Barbara Dzembo, Administration; Denise Elwell, Government & Community Relations; Marie Johnson, Division of Human Resources; Emily Luddy, School of Architecture; Paula Monahan and Toni Sposito, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; Vicki Rafferty, Finance;
Bonnie Skarka, Office of the Vice President for Enrollment; Cynthia Smith, Dean of Students Office; and Audrey Larkin-Zurlo, School of Engineering.
