Hartford Receives Commemorative Collage From NASA

NASA has presented Rensselaer’s Hartford campus with a commemorative United States flag and crew patch that were flown aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour during an assembly mission to the International Space Station Aug. 8-21, 2007.
Rick Mastracchio ’87, who graduated from Rensselaer’s Hartford campus and is the first Rensselaer alumnus to walk in space, served as a mission specialist, spending more than 18 hours on three spacewalks outside of Endeavour while it was docked with the International Space Station in Earth orbit.

The flag and patch are part of a collage with photos from the mission. It will be featured in the “Alumni in Space” display at Hartford, which honors three Rensselaer alumni who have flown in space.
