Faculty-Staff Appreciation Night
The Division of Human Resources hosted the sixth annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation event Nov. 3 at the Houston Field House. Approximately 1,800 faculty, staff, and family members attended the Rensselaer vs. Brown men’s hockey game free of charge. More than 1,200 32-ounce commemorative mugs were given away, as well as dozens of free T-shirts, tossed into the stands by Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources. Guests also received $5 each in vouchers for the concession stand.

Fans had the opportunity to get their faces painted by Red & White student volunteers. Mr. Twisty provided free balloons for children. During the first period break, Sean Higgins, server support analyst, drove the puck into the net to win a $25 gift certificate to the Rensselaer Bookstore. During the second break, a tricycle race was held; Michael Hanna and his granddaughter won a $50 gift certificate to Price Chopper.

Several giveaways were held throughout the night: Lisa McGrath, director of major gifts, won a Family Fun Pack; Kim Watson, assistant to the chair in earth and environmental sciences, won an iPod Shuffle; Mary Wagner, administrative secretary in decision sciences and engineering systems, won a Family Fun Pack; Jackie Cioffi, associate advancement officer, won a Playstation Portable Entertainment Pack; and Shelly Samuel, administrative specialist in the Lally School, won a Family Fun Pack.
