HR Offers New Employee Benefit
For many members of the Rensselaer community, having reliable dependent day care is an essential component of every work day. Being faced from time to time with unavoidable alterations to these arrangements, such as the last-minute unavailability of a regularly scheduled provider, a child sick at home with a contagious illness, or a school holiday that falls outside of Rensselaer’s schedule, can create challenges to getting to work on time or getting to work at all.

The Division of Human Resources has announced a new benefit for faculty and staff: Pinch Hitter Backup Dependent Care Services. Pinch Hitter is a service provided by A New England Nanny, a GTM Work-Life Company that provides high-quality, in-home, back-up dependent care on days when regular care is not available. Caregivers have been recruited from the Capital Region, and have been screened and trained in CPR, first aid, child and elder development, health of the young child, age-appropriate activities, and elder care safety.

All Rensselaer faculty and staff have access to this benefit for the minimum cost of $3 per hour, beginning Nov. 1, 2007. Watch for additional information regarding Pinch Hitter Backup Dependent Care Services.
