African Music Meets Western Club Electronica
* Burkina Electric
*

iEAR Presents! will host Burkina Electric on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in West Hall Auditorium. Burkina Electric brings new concepts to African music and western club electronica by infusing computer-based performance with rhythms and other elements of traditional music from the nation of Burkina Faso.

Burkina Electric is the first electronica band from Burkina Faso, in the deep interior of West Africa. With its main base in the music scene of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s capital, it is, at the same time, an international band, with members living in New York and Düsseldorf, Germany, as well as in Ouaga. In Burkina Electric’s music, the traditions and rhythms of Burkina Faso meet and mingle with contemporary electronic dance culture, making it a trailblazer in electronic world music.

The event is free and open to the public. For directions or more information, visit www.arts.rpi.edu or call 276-4829.
