Vibert Named Associate Director of Public Safety

Ruth Vibert has been named associate director of public safety administration and operations. Vibert had been acting associate director of public safety. Previously, she was lieutenant of operations and training.

Vibert came to Rensselaer from the Waterford Police Department, where she served as road sergeant and juvenile investigator for 15 years. In that role, she successfully developed and implemented the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program for the town and village of Waterford and become one of the two primary instructors for Zone Five Police Academy, teaching domestic violence intervention laws.

Prior to her work for Waterford, Vibert was a Mounted Police Officer with the New York State Park Police and conducted undercover narcotics investigations. Vibert completed her duties as a military police officer at Ft. McClellan Alabama, the 105th MP unit in Troy, and the 1157th USAR School in Schenectady.

During her time at Rensselaer, Vibert has developed and implemented a number of innovative and proactive changes that have improved the quality of services provided by Public Safety and developed a working network with outside federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Vibert has completed local, state, and federal law enforcement academies including supervisory school, investigations, asset forfeiture, and multiple field-related courses. Her office is located in the Public Safety Building.
