2012 Holiday Concert

A free holiday concert featuring the Rensselaer concert choir and orchestra will be held on Sunday, December 16 at 3:00 p.m., at EMPAC.

To the Rensselaer Community
from Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph. D., President

I would like to invite the entire Rensselaer community to what has become a beautiful holiday tradition on campus. On Sunday, December 16, the Festival Chorus once again will perform at EMPAC. The Rensselaer community is welcome and encouraged to join me and other Institute leaders at the concert.

The concert this year will feature classical pieces of Handel, Brahms, Mozart, Dvorak, and more. The chorus will be accompanied by the Rensselaer Orchestra under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov. Mr. Rudiakov is the current conductor of the Rensselaer Orchestra and serves as the artistic director of the Manchester Music Festival.

The Festival Chorus showcases the considerable talent of our community and will perform under the direction of Shellie Badger, the director of Rensselaer’s Concert Choir and adjunct professor. The chorus is comprised of members of the Rensselaer Concert Choir, as well as undergraduates and members of our staff. In addition to the classical favorites, the chorus will perform favorite carols including The Little Drummer Boy, Sleigh Ride, and others.

The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.

I look forward to seeing you there as we welcome the holiday season and ring in a new year.
