Research

CATS * Center for Automation Technologies and Systems

A NYSTAR designated Center for Advanced Technology, CATS provides a means for industry to utilize an extensive pool of knowledge and expertise at Rensselaer in the science and technology of automation.

CFES * New York State Center for Future Energy Systems

CFES conducts fundamental and applied research to accelerate the development of energy efficient and renewable energy technologies, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of new energy materials, devices and systems.

CASE * Center for Architecture Science and Ecology

A multi-institutional and professional office research collaboration, CASE is addressing the need for accelerated innovation of radically new sustainable built environments through the development of next-generation building systems.

SCTE * Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship

The mission of the SCTE is to expose every Rensselaer student to the practices and principles of entrepreneurship, and to extend Rensselaer’s leadership and national prominence in technological entrepreneurship.

The Office of E*ntrepreneurship provides leadership and coordination for campus entrepreneurship activities and stages several events focused on enhancing the student, faculty and alumni experience at Rensselaer.

MDL * The Design Lab at Rensselaer

The O.T. Swanson Multidisciplinary Design Laboratory is well known for its industry sponsored real world student-led projects. In addition, The Design Lab serves as the central hub for design activity at Rensselaer.

Defining problems that most people don’t even know exist. Inventing and patenting solutions. That’s what 20 seniors do each semester in Inventor's Studio — and for some this course is just the beginning.
