Esther Vargas Appointed Director of Emerging Ventures Ecosystem Effective May 12, 2014
5/9/14: Ms. Vargas most recently served as the Assistant Director of Research & Commercialization and Site Manager for the University of Central Florida Winter Park Business Incubation Site. Her previous positions include serving as Program Director for the University of Indiana and Director of Resource Development for the HOPE Foundation in Bloomington, Indiana. Ms. Vargas is certified as a Business Incubation Manager through the National Business Incubators Association. She is a successful entrepreneur in her own right, having founded IDEAL Language LLC, a successful executive cultural training enterprise.
"Esther brings a unique and expansive combination of business incubation experience and expertise that make her ideally suited to support the entrepreneurship and research commercialization initiatives of the Institute," said James Spencer, Jr., Executive Director of Rensselaer Technology Park, Real Estate and New Venture Development and Acting Director of the Office of Technology Commercialization.
As Director, Ms. Vargas will establish strategic and sustainable partnerships among and between Rensselaer faculty, students, alumni and alumnae, and industry and corporate partners; as well as lead and direct the creation and growth of high-technology ventures and economic development that are aligned with The Rensselaer Plan 2024. Ms. Vargas will provide the leadership and management in establishing sound financial, administrative, and operational protocols and practices for sustaining EVE as an efficient and effective distributed technology venture incubation program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Ms. Vargas received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Managerial Economics from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. She also received a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University with a dual major in New Venture Development and Marketing.
