The Sixth Annual National Manufacturing Day took place on Friday, October 6, 2017 in the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) on Rensselaer's campus.
Rensselaer has been a leader in manufacturing engineering education for many years. We have state of the art laboratories and continue to enhance our course curriculum to meet the nation's future manufacturing needs. Since its inception in fall 2011, Rensselaer has supported the national initiative called National Manufacturing Day by hosting local high school teachers, students and regional manufacturers to share our visions and expertise in manufacturing engineering and opportunities. Each year we host approximately 200 to 300 individuals for a keynote presentation, laboratory tours and demonstrations by graduate and undergraduate students.
In fall 2017, Rensselaer partnered with the City of Troy to celebrate the city's heritage in manufacturing. Several dignitaries participated during the on-campus events that begun with landing of the American-made Sikorsky Black Hawk Helicopter in the middle of central campus on the 86 Field. Check out our 2017 NDM video of the special event.
Rensselaer plans to continue our tradition of National Manufacturing Day. Check back on our NMD website for the details as we get closer to confirm the schedule and participants.
