Travel Directions by Car
From the South:
Take I-87, the New York State Thruway, North to Exit 23. At Exit 23,
get on I-787 North to Route 7 East (Troy-Bennington). Follow the
directions to campus
and parking.
From the North:
Take I-87, the Adirondack Northway, South to Exit 7 East. Get on Route 7
headed East (Troy-Bennington). Follow the
directions to campus
and parking.
From the East:
From I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike, Berkshire Spur of the New York Thruway),
take Exit B1. Continue East (13.5 miles) to the exit for I-787. Take I-787 North
to Route 7 East (Troy-Bennington). Follow the
directions to campus
and parking.
From the West:
Take I-90, the New York State Thruway, to Exit 24. From Exit 24, continue onto I-90 East.
Exit onto I-787 North. Take I-787 North to Route 7 East (Troy-Bennington). Follow the
directions to campus
and parking.
Travel Directions by Plane or Train
If you are arriving by plane, fly into the Albany International Airport.
If you are arriving by train,
travel to the Albany/Rensselaer Amtrak station.
Commercial taxicabs to campus are available from both locations.
If you are driving from the airport:
- Leaving the airport, turn left onto Route 155, follow for 1/10 of a mile.
- At the traffic light, turn left onto Albany Shaker Road.
- Get on I-87 North via ramp on the left.
- Take exit 7 onto Route 7 toward Troy – stay on route 7 for 4.8 miles. You will want to be in the left lane.
- Follow the directions to campus and parking.
Directions to Campus and Parking
- You will want to be in the left lane of Route 7, continue across the Collar City Bridge. Continue on Route 7 (Hoosick Street) up the hill until you reach Burdett Avenue (5th traffic light).
- On Burdett, take a right turn.
- At the 2nd traffic light, make a left turn into the entrance of the Houston Field House.
- Bear to the right to the parking lot (B-lot) entrance.
- Please remember to place your parking permit on your dashboard. Request a parking permit if you need one. The parking permit will be sent as an e-mail attachment which you print.
- Look for the Red Hawk Shuttle Buses.
The Houston Field House (#52 on the map) parking lot B is reserved for High Performance Computation Conference attendees. A Red Hawk Shuttle Bus will run continuous loops between parking lot B and the EMPAC East Campus Entrance (7th level) in the morning and at the end of each day. The Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) is located in a 220,000-square foot building containing a wide and flexible range of major venues:

- 1200-seat concert hall

- 3,500-square-foot studio
- 2,500-square-foot studio
- Suites for artists-in-residence
- Rehearsal spaces
- Student and support spaces
- Professional recording, editing and post-production facilities
