Free Advice: In college, students need to take responsibility for
their own learning. Students must devote sufficient time to the class so as to
be prepared for quizzes and exams. With the time pressures of other classes and
the possibly new-found freedom of college life, focusing on courses may not be
a first choice, particularly for those students who are taking a course with
significant overlap with previous material. But neglecting attendance and
homework usually leads to poor grades on exams and quizzes and thus a poor
grade in any course.
There are ample resources
available for students who would like additional help. Check out and attend the
office hours of the Instructor and the TA(s). Try the drop-in tutoring from the Advising and
Learning Assistance center. Visit me for a few minutes after class, or make an
appointment to come see me, the friendly advice is free.
