Calculus 2

MATH 1020-Malta

Summer 2008

Professor:Jennifer A. Blue

Class Schedule: Varies, see itinerary

Book:Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 6th edition, by Stewart

Course Objectives:The student is expected to complete this class with a working knowledge of the basic ideas of calculus. The sections covered in this course can be found in Homework.

Attendance:While attendance is not mandatory, I do keep attendance records. Attendance to all lectures is strongly encouraged.

Calculator Usage:Calculators are not to be used on exams.

Exams: There will be four exams and a final exam.

Final Exam: The final exam is mandatory. It will only be given at the time assigned by the registrar's office. Do not make travel arrangements that may conflict with your final exams. The last day of final exams is August XXX. Thus, you should not plan to leave town before that until the final exam schedules are posted and you are sure of when you own final exams are.

Missed Work:A missed exam will result in a zero and cannot be made up except for (1) you have made a prior arrangement with me or (2) you have medical documentation of your absence and a letter from the Dean of Students Office.

Grade Appeals:You have one week from when a graded work is returned to the class to dispute your assigned grade. Grade appeals must be made in writing with your signature and include the original work in dispute.

Academic Integrity:You are encouraged to work together on the homework problems. The exams are to be solely your own work. The Rensselaer Handbook of Student Rights and Responsibilities includes a section on academic dishonesty. Please review this material. The penalty for an act of academic dishonesty will include an F in the course and a report to the Dean of Students Office.
